The former president of Peru was banned from holding public office after being vaccinated over the counter

Former Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, 58, has been barred from holding public office for the next ten years after being vaccinated against the coronavirus over the past year.

The Peruvian Congress imposed a ban on Vizcarra, who ruled the country from 2018 to 2020, when he received the coronavirus vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Sinofarm.

Vizkara will not be able to take the seat in parliament he won in last week’s election. He received the vaccine while he was president.

Nearly 500 politicians and civil servants are involved in the vaccination scandal.
